Bright and early on Monday morning (we’re talking 5:30 am) we met up with a whole group of blue-shirt clad church members to go to the second campus of Ramkhamhaeng University on the other side of town. We loaded up the van and two pick-up trucks with what seemed to be a random assortment of things. Eating out seems to be the way to go around here. With full meals for as little as 80 cents on the street, and all you can eat for an hour for $8.00 (I was very excited to discover that sushi restaurant!), it leaves very little motivation to cook. My ladies class confirmed that if you’re only cooking for two, eating on the street is cheaper than buying groceries. Here are things that stand out when you first get to Thailand…

When was the last time you felt helpless?
Being in a different country can give you that feeling. Especially if you aren’t just in tourist areas. When you can’t find your way to the grocery store by yourself, and once you’re there you can’t read the labels and things look unfamiliar, and if you’re looking for something specific you don’t know how to ask anyone, and once you check out you can’t understand the cashier and you dumbly hand over what you think is enough money to cover it and just hope they give you correct change.

This week Jason was asked to do his first video project. English Camp is the church’s biggest outreach event of the year. High school and college students are interested in learning English, so we provide this opportunity for them to study in a fun way. While at camp, they learn more English, but they also hear the Gospel and make friends with strong believers.
