Our Christmas in Thailand

Our Christmas in Thailand

Merry Christmas!

It seems like it has been a long time since we last wrote. We have been keeping busy with some traveling and plenty of Christmas activities. Last week we held special “Bonus Week” classes to draw interest in our school. On Monday I taught an adults class on pronunciation, and Tuesday a children’s class called “English by Skit.” We even had them perform their little Christmas skit for their parents. And, they performed just as you’d see little kids perform at home. :)

Christmas has been a unique time for sharing our faith. It offers a very natural opportunity. Christmas is not a traditional Thai holiday, and some even think it is just Western New Years. We have enjoyed explaining the real reason for celebrating to our students and friends.

Right now we officially have a few weeks off from the normal routine of teaching. Earlier this week we met together with Foursquare missionaries from all over Thailand for a retreat in Chiang Mai. It was a time of fellowship, teaching, western food, and Christmas fun. It was a good time to talk and reflect on the ministry that has happened over the past year and what we hope to see happen in the new year.

Last night we had a church family Christmas party complete with a gift exchange, songs, a skit, and of course, plenty of food. It really felt like a family gathering.

And finally, as a little taste of Christmas in Thailand, here’s a rough video I took of a boys choir group caroling outside of The Mall yesterday. It gives you a feel of the busyness of the city and how strange it is to see Christmas decorations when it is so warm outside!

What are you doing for Christmas?
