Soi Sauce

We live on a street called Soi 30. Soi is a word for a small side street. There is not a lot of traffic on a soi. Which is good, because there is no sidewalk. You also can’t get many places driving down a soi. You have to go to the end of the soi where it connects to a main road. The Sois run parallel to each other, so the next soi over would be Soi 29, then 28, etc. Our address actually incorporates the name of the big road, as well as our soi number.
Our soi connects to an extremely busy road that is often packed with traffic. We have to go there to get to a bus, a taxi, another soi, or a 7Eleven. Unfortunately, the sidewalk on that road is torn up and ready to be replaced. It makes walking down the street take a lot more concentration so that you won’t trip!
Among our friends here, the sois seem to be identified by landmarks- something like, “the hospital soi,” or, “the bank soi.” That’s how we can remember where the good places to eat are.
Last night we walked down to “the hospital soi” and bought some great fresh fruit.

What’s up with the pink cars in the pictures? Is pink the “in color” in Thailand?

Thais do love pink. The outside of the center is even pink. The pink cars are taxis
